About the Event

This is an 8-hour course taught by two detectives with over 20 years of experience related to gang investigations. Both instructors have worked gang related homicides, attempted homicides, assaults, sexual assaults, and other gang related crimes to include weapon and drug offenses. This course will be an in depth look into gangs in Colorado; specifically, Hispanic turf gangs and White Supremacist gangs. The course will walk the student through gang culture and how family plays a role in gang recruitment. Students will also learn how to identify gang symbols through tattoos and graffiti. The instructors will show how hierarchy plays a role and the connection to prisons and society. Next, the instructors will teach each student about officer safety and how to approach and contact gang members on the street. Lastly, the instructors and a local Chief Deputy DA will go over gang related investigations and highlight cardinal factors in working with prosecutors to achieve the maximum sentence for gang members.
